Dr. Sichao Qu is currently a Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Hong Kong (HKU). He obtained his B.S. degree (2019) from Nanjing University (NJU) under Strengthening Foundation Plan and Ph.D. degree in Physics (2022) from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST, advisor: Prof. Ping Sheng). He continued his applied research as an industrial project-oriented postdoctoral fellow at HKUST, collaborating with Acoustic Metamaterial Group, Ltd. (AMG, advisor: Dr. Min Yang). He joined HKU as a postdoctoral fellow in early 2023 and got promoted as a Research Assistant Professor in 2024, working with Prof. Nick Fang and lab colleagues under Jockey-Club STEM Lab for Scalable and Sustainable Photonic Manufacturing. He is the recipient of NJU Shanyuan Overseas Exchange Scholarship, HKUST Redbird Research Excellence Award and HKU-Cambridge Doris Zimmern Hughes Hall Fellowship etc.

As for research taste, he is particularly fascinated by metamaterial research topics with following features: (i) Renewing physical understanding, (ii) Advancing analytical/numerical methods, (iii) Holding strong application potential.
