Dr. Weixin Song earned his Bachelor and Master degree from Central South University in 2012 and 2015, respectively, and his PhD degree from Imperial College London in 2019. Following his doctorate, he worked as a postdoctoral research fellow at Oxford University from 2019 to 2025, then awarded as an EPSRC research fellow at Oxford University in 2025. He joins the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Hong Kong in September 2025 as an Assistant Professor. He was the awardee of the Imperial College President’s PhD Scholarship and has been recognized with prestigious awards, including the Chinese Government Award for Outstanding Self-financed Students Abroad, STFC Future Early Career Award (UK), Constance Fligg Tipper Centenary Memorial Prize (Imperial) and MPLS Innovation and Enterprise Fellowship (Oxford). His research focuses on atomic-scale understanding and development of the next-generation energy materials, such as the anionic-redox materials, Ni-rich oxides, NASICONs, and polyanions.
