Shasha LI, a final-year PhD student supervised by Dr. Yue Chen in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, has won the M. Braun Postgraduate Prize. One prize is awarded annually to an MPhil or a PhD postgraduate student in the Department of Mechanical Engineering on the basis of his/her research performance. Shasha LI’s PhD project focuses on the study of phonon-phonon coupling mechanisms and the lattice thermal transport properties of strongly anharmonic systems. Her research has contributed to in-depth understanding of the lattice dynamics of emerging high-performance thermoelectric materials and paved the path for phonon engineering of transport properties.
