Professor Anderson Shum has received the Rising Star Award of the Ton Duc Thang University Scientific Prize 2019 (The TDTU Prize) for his contribution in Microfluidics and Soft Matter. On Dec. 27, 2019, Anderson received an award certificate and delivered an award speech at the Award Ceremony held at the Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU) in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
The TDTU Prize, which was first awarded in 2017 and is held every two years, “aims to recognize and honor the world's eminent scientists for their outstanding achievements and research which have been actively contributing to not only the development of science and technology for mankind but also benevolent activities in service of people and society across the world”. The TDTU Prize 2019 has received 90 applications from scientists in Egypt, Algeria, India, Bangladesh, Belgium, Canada, Taiwan, Germany, Republic of Korea, Hong Kong, Iran, Israel, Jordan, Malaysia, USA, Japan, Russia, Nigeria, Pakistan, Serbia, Turkey, Vietnam, and Italy. He would like to express his gratitude to members of his research group, the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering and HKU, as well as colleagues for the continuous support.
