Dr. Chong Li received his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Shanghai Jiao Tong University in 2023, was selected as a Jockey Club STEM Early Career Research Fellow at HKU in 2024, and was promoted to Research Assistant Professor in 2025. His honors include the Hiwin Doctoral Dissertation Award in 2024 and selection as a Young Scientist by the Hong Kong Laureate Forum in 2025. His work integrates mechanics‑guided elastic metastructures with computational sensing and AI to create intelligent, stimuli‑responsive devices for subwavelength sensing, computing, actuation, and communication. He has demonstrated highly sensitive, broadband micro‑motion sensing; information‑driven programming of elastodynamics; and single‑sensor vibration source identification, while advancing industrial applications in health monitoring. His research agenda aligns with interdisciplinary challenges in AI, bionics, applied physics, materials science, and sustainable engineering, catalyzing discussions on edge intelligence systems and offering insights into next‑generation sensing technologies for robotics, aerospace, smart cities, and the Internet of Things.
