Prof. Yihao Zhou received his B.S. in Materials Physics from Nanjing University in 2013, and his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering and Materials Science from Duke University in 2019. Before joining the University of Hong Kong, he worked as a postdoctoral scholar in the Department of Bioengineering at the University of California, Los Angeles. He is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering with a joint appointment in the School of Biomedical Engineering at HKU. His research lies at the intersection of soft materials, bioelectronics, and artificial intelligence, focusing on materials-driven and AI-assisted bioelectronics for digital and precision health. His research areas include soft functional materials, wearable bioelectronics, portable medical devices, and biomedical implants. He leverages theoretical understanding and computational modeling for advanced material design and develops AI-assisted bioelectronic devices to address unmet healthcare needs, with applications ranging from cancer screening to artificial electronic skin. He is a 2025 Clarivate Highly Cited Researcher in the Cross-Field category.
