Professor Nicholas Fang named SES Fellow by the Society of Engineering Science

Professor Nicholas Fang, Chair of Photonics Innovation from the Department of Mechanical Engineering has been named SES Fellows by Society of Engineering Science (SES). The SES Fellowship is awarded to individuals who have demonstrated exceptional achievements in research, innovation, and leadership in engineering science.  


His research spans micro- and nanotechnology, focusing on scalable manufacturing techniques for wave-functional materials and devices. Fang’s innovations in energy conversion, optical communication, and biomedical imaging have led to over 16 patent applications in nano- and micro-fabrication, additive manufacturing, and imaging technologies. Many of these patents have demonstrated strong industry relevance and have been adopted by startups and other commercial entities.
